Proxy types
Proxy types compared
There are four main proxy types. Residential proxies use household IPs and rotate. ISP proxies are static IPs from residential ISPs. Datacenter proxies are server IPs, fastest and cheapest but easiest to detect. Mobile proxies use carrier IPs shared with real phones and are the hardest to block. The right choice depends on the target site.
Compare the four proxy types
| Proxy type | IP source | Billing | From | Bandwidth | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rotating Residential Proxies | Residential (home ISP connections) | Per GB | $2.42 per GB | Metered | Web scraping, Price monitoring |
| ISP Proxies (Static Residential) | Static, ISP-registered (residential ASN) | Per proxy / month | $4.69 per proxy / month | Unlimited | Account management, E-commerce sessions |
| Rotating Datacenter Proxies | Datacenter (hosting and cloud networks) | Per GB | $1.21 per GB | Metered | High-volume scraping, SEO crawling |
| Rotating Mobile Proxies | Mobile carrier (4G/5G) | Per GB | $4.84 per GB | Metered | Mobile ad verification, App testing |
How to choose
- Does the target block datacenter IPs? If not, start with datacenter proxies. They are the fastest and cheapest per GB.
- Do you need the same IP for a long time? Use ISP proxies: static, dedicated and residential-grade.
- Do you need many IPs and locations? Use rotating residential proxies.
- Is the target very strict, or mobile-only? Use mobile proxies.
Trust, speed and cost at a glance
| Proxy type | Trust with websites | Speed | Typical billing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Datacenter | Lowest | Fastest | Per GB |
| ISP | High | Fast | Per IP |
| Residential | High | Medium | Per GB |
| Mobile | Highest | Medium | Per GB |
All four support HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5.
FAQ
Questions, answered
What is the difference between residential and datacenter proxies?
Residential proxies use IPs that internet providers assign to homes, so websites treat them as real visitors. Datacenter proxies use IPs from hosting companies, which are faster and cheaper but easier for websites to identify and block.
Which proxy type is hardest to block?
Mobile proxies. Carriers share each mobile IP among many real phone users, so blocking it would block genuine customers.
Which proxy type is cheapest?
Datacenter proxies have the lowest price per GB. For very heavy traffic through a few fixed IPs, a per-IP plan with unlimited bandwidth, such as ISP proxies, can cost less than per-GB billing.
